The Lakeway Activity Center earned its third Excellence in Programming award from the Learning Resources Network, an international association in lifelong learning.

The center received the award for its class, "Yoga for Geeks," a custom yoga routine designed for people who spend many hours in front of a computer screen and is intended to help relieve stress and relax the brain.

"It is a tremendous honor to receive our third LERN award," said Andra Dearing, Lakeway Parks and Recreation director. "Dallas [Gorman, Lakeway Activity Center manager and programs coordinator] and ["Yoga for Geeks" instructor] Rena [Smith's] partnership is just one example of the work we do to provide the community with fresh, engaging programming."

LERN selects programs that are at the leading edge of the field of lifelong learning, original, innovative, appropriate and adaptable as a model for other programs.

Julie Coates, vice president of information services for LERN, said this year's award nominees were among the highest quality ever submitted.
