Round Rock City Council approved two incentive packages at its Nov. 14 meeting that could bring at least 75 new jobs to the city in the next four years.
California-based ThermaSol, a steam-shower manufacturing company, agreed to relocate its facilities and develop an industrial park on North Mays Street near the city's police station.
In exchange, the Council approved granting a $400,000 cash incentive to the company.
ThermaSol is expected to bring 45 new jobs to the city as well as $3.5 million worth of infrastructure investment.
"This was really a win-win situation for us," Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw said. "Getting a new world headquarter facility and business park in the same project doesn't happen every day."
Insys Therapeutics, a Phoenix-based pharmaceutical manufacturing company, also inked a deal with the city to expand its Round Rock manufacturing operations at a new location. The company will receive five-years of tax abatements from the city, as well as up to $200,000 in cash for capital expenditures and job creation.
The company has promised to create a minimum of 30 new jobs and invest at least $10.5 million into its new facility.
"Bioscience is one of our major industry clusters and target industries here in Round Rock," said Bryant Smith, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Partnership chairman. "This type of facility is a great compliment to the businesses already in the area, and their expansion will help develop the foundation we are already building for future growth in the bioscience industry."
