After an eight-month hiatus, Zed's reopened its doors Oct. 24.

The restaurant, located in Tech Ridge Center, closed temporarily Feb. 21 to make some changes that included expanding its bar area by 200 square feet, General Manager Michael Robinson said. The new area has windows that open to the outdoor patio.

"It'll be great if we do live music in the future," he said.

Chef Adrian Corkill, who used to work at the now-shuttered Cool River Caf in North Austin, revamped the menu.

"It's contemporary American with great flavor, but it's not fried and heavy," Robinson said.

He said most items have been selling well, including the grilled artichoke appetizer ($8), baked crabcake appetizer ($10) and "Thirsty" Littleneck Clams ($14) that are marinated in Thirsty Goat amber beer and served with bacon and grilled ciabatta bread. Zed's uses local foods including artisanal cheeses from throughout the state, Robinson said.

Entree options include bacon-wrapped sea scallops ($26) and a 12 oz. grilled rib-eye steak ($36). The bar menu offers a taste of the lunch and dinner menus with options such as chicken-fried chicken ($10) with gravy and wild mushrooms, and grilled cheese and tomato bisque ($8).

Robinson said customers may order off any menu all day. Zed's also has brunch on Sundays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. with choices such as eggs Benedict, migas, brioche French toast and duck and waffles.
