Officials with H-E-B, the city of Round Rock and Round Rock ISD gathered for a grand opening celebration Oct. 25 at the new H-E-B grocery store in the University Commons Shopping Center at 250 University Blvd.

The brand new 125,000-square-foot store represents the fifth H-E-B Round Rock location for the San Antonio-based grocery retailer. Special features for the store include a Caf on the Run section that will offer made-to-order pizzas and sandwiches as well as a selection of six Texas craft beers on tap.

The store also includes full-service meat and seafood departments, a full-service deli, a bakery, pharmacy and a floral department. H-E-B expects to hire more than 300 employees to staff the store. The new location also includes a gas and diesel filling station as well as a car wash.

"Our goal is to provide the best customer service, lowest possible prices and largest variety of products in our new Round Rock store," H-E-B Store Unit Director C.J. Schmidt said.
