Phase 3 of construction on Round Rock High School near Deepwood Drive is underway and could be finished before its expected completion date of Aug. 31, 2014, Project Manager Terry Alford said.

"The project is going really well. We're right on schedule, maybe even a little ahead," Alford said. "We will be ready for school next fall."

Phase 3, designed by architecture firm PBK, includes an administration area and two academic wings with about 45 classrooms, Alford said. Phase 3 is 139,569 square feet in size and will connect to the Phase 2 portion of campus, which is where the new cafeteria, library, gymnasium and athletic area are located, Alford said. Construction began Dec. 1, and the budget for the project is $25 million. Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, LLC is the contractor for Phase 3.

The construction project for Round Rock High School was approved by the board in 2008 with the agreement that the construction be spread out into four phases, said Alan Albers, RRISD's prior executive director of operations and facilities. Albers retired Aug. 31.
