At its Sept. 10 meeting, the Magnolia City Council unanimously voted to appoint Victoria Hanson as its newest court administrator.
"I had no idea this was coming," Hanson said. "It was a very lovely surprise."
Prior to being appointed court administrator for Magnolia, Hanson served as executive assistant to the city administrator. She worked as a warrant clerk and for the utilities and permits department for the city. Before coming to Magnolia, Hanson worked for an employment and labor law firm for four years, and also worked as a deputy court clerk for Oak Ridge North.
According to Hanson, her previous court experience and work within the city of Magnolia, paired with the resigning of the former court administrator, led to her appointment.
"I am elated and I have not stopped smiling since I was appointed," she said. "I feel like I am truly part of a team now. I am finally happy to have a home and career, and plan to be here for a while."
Hanson's new duties will include processing warrants to be issued, helping defendants, handling complaints and dismissals and much more.
"Much of my job is making sure each defendant gets their rights and that we are doing everything by the book," she said.
