The city of Austin closed Dittmar Road from Loganberry Drive to South Congress Avenue in April 2012 after soil erosion loosened a guardrail.

On Aug. 19, 2013, the city's Watershed Protection Department began work re-enforcing the bank of South Boggy Creek with limestone blocks. City spokeswoman Alexa Muraida said repairing erosion is expected to take four months.

"Once the [watershed protection department] erosion control activities are complete, the public works department will begin roadway rehabilitation efforts that may be necessary in order to open Dittmar Road to through traffic," she wrote in a statement.

The public works department will reinstall the guardrail and repair the roadway—a process that should take three weeks, she added.

The project is estimated to cost $424,198.19 among various city departments.
