A new mural that is slated to be painted and mounted in downtown Hutto is aiming to attract visitors to the city.
Local artist Suzanne Huser will complete the 8-foot-by-16-foot mural, which will include scenes from the city's history, the Hutto mascot, the hippo, and the orange crush day lily, the city's flower. The mural will be on display at 101 East St.
"This mural will be the first public art piece to have done there, and we hope to attract visitors from Hwy. 79 to visit downtown and explore Hutto," Hutto Downtown Manager Kim McAuliffe said.
Work on the mural will begin this month and be finished by Hutto Old Tyme Days on Oct. 19.
