Leander's Crystal Falls Golf Club will host "Hang Loose," a bi-weekly golf course-sponsored event that includes activities, food and music from 7–10 p.m. July 24. The cost is $10
The July 24 outing will be the golf club's second Wednesday hosting this event. Crystal Falls Golf Club General Manager Grant Collyns said he intends to continue the series of socials every other week through October.
Each week will feature a different food buffet. The July 24 food options will have a Tex-Mex theme, with a buffet that will include chicken fajita, tortillas, chips and salsa, among other items. Other weeks may include hot dogs, hamburgers or wings, Collyns said.
"We are just trying to accommodate our members and the community and give them another activity during the week," he said.
There will be a putting contest starting at 8 p.m. during which golfers and non-golfers can compete for $1 a putt. Activities will vary each time, Collyns said.
The golf course will also host different bands from the Austin music scene, such as the July 24 band, Dim Lit Daylight, a band that uses electronic beats, guitars and bass to create their own brand of pop and rock.
"We are just trying to create a causal relaxed atmosphere and give people a chance to get out the house and let the kids have fun and take a break," Collyns said.
The event will take place every other Wednesday night on the club's back deck—weather permitting, Collyns said. He said the club hopes to make this something that continues through next year.
"We are just working off feedback," he said. "Just like anything else, you offer something to the public and hope they enjoy it."
