Fritz Park in Hutto is scheduled to see numerous infrastructure and recreational improvements in the upcoming years.

In 2008, Hutto's City Council and Parks Advisory board adopted a master plan to update Fritz Park. The plan includes a new parking lot, a crushed granite trail, a multi-use concession stand, restrooms and a playground. The baseball, softball and football fields will also receive renovations with themes that lend themselves to the city's history. The baseball and softball fields will be 1930s and 1940s themed, while the football field will resemble the 1950s and 1960s, according to Hutto Director of Parks and Recreation Mike Hemker.

"We are currently still in the design process" Hemker said. "Construction will likely begin in 2015."

In order to construct the best park for Hutto citizens, the Parks and Recreation department is asking for input about the designs for the park.

The city is planning to set up booths at upcoming public events for residents to give their ideas and ask questions to further understand the coming improvements.

The first chance for residents to provide input is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9 at the second performance of the Summer Concert in the Park series at Fritz Park at 7:30pm.

The next opportunity is scheduled for Wednesday July 10 at 7:00pm at the Parks Advisory Board's regular meeting at City Hall Council Chambers.

Citizens can also give input on Friday, July 12 at the third Movie in The Park at 8:30pm at Fritz Park.

Hemker mentioned that there would be an additional opportunity for public input on July 22 at City Hall Council Chambers.
