The city of Pflugerville's first Leadership Pflugerville class will graduate on June 5.
The Pflugerville Community Development Corp. established the program in 2013 to cultivate a group of empowered leaders in the growing city. Leadership Pflugerville is designed to enable community leaders to improve economic and social conditions by giving them a better knowledge of the city's government systems and history.
"We are pleased with the high caliber of participants in our first year of the program," PCDC Business Recruitment Specialist Mary Poch said. "A wide variety of professional, educational and demographic backgrounds are represented, and that diversity will provide many viewpoints when it comes to decision making, which is great to have in our rapidly growing community."
Twelve participants attended classes and City Council, Pflugerville ISD board of trustees and Chamber of Commerce meetings. According to the PCDC, the course is designed to enable graduates to create changes for businesses and the community through their learned knowledge of the workings of the city.
"I especially enjoyed coordinating on our challenge grant projects with other members of the class, the city and Pflugerville ISD staffs," Leadership Pflugerville participant George Cudd said. "Overall, I am better able to interact with the community in establishing and supporting our business, education and recreational goals."
