On March 12, Travis County Commissioners Court discussed allowing a planned subdivision, The Hills of Shady Hollow, to have entrances and exits on one street instead of two.
The plan for The Hills of Shady Hollow calls for 208 single-family lots, four open and drainage lots, an amenity center and a commercial lot on 77.7 acres near FM 1626 in southern Travis County.
Most of the homes would access the subdivision from Bob Johnson Lane.
An access street connection to FM 1626 is not feasible because of sight distance limitations and proximity to the Bob Johnson Lane intersection, wrote Lawrence Hanrahan of Hanrahan Pritchard Engineering Inc. in a letter to the county.
At the meeting, residents were concerned about congestion on Bob Johnson Lane, traffic signals and using a field as as emergency access route to FM 1626.
The commissioners suggested that residents and the developer, Milestone Community Builders, meet to discuss issues. The variance was tabled.
