After being closed for more than three months, Barton Springs Pool is set to open at 5 a.m. on March 30.

Barton Springs Pool has been closed since Dec. 12 while a flood-control tunnel and downstream dam were repaired. The flood-control tunnel was built in 1974 and nearing the end of its lifespan, according to a City of Austin news release. Holes in the tunnel were discovered in 2008.

"It [was] reaching the end of its expected life," City of Austin engineer Johnnie Price said in September. "Of course we would have liked for it to last a bit longer, but it's not uncommon for concrete construction like this to need repairs."

The repairs are expected to provide a long-term fix for the tunnel, the news release said. For more information, visit www.austintexas.gov/ bartontunnel.
