Owner Heidi Garbo has opened Garbo's Lobster Truck, selling lobster rolls from her food truck that roams Northwest Austin.

"I don't think you understand unless you're from New England, but you get a hankering for a lobster roll," she said. "I wanted to bring it to everyone, but it was [also] for selfish reasons because I wanted it."

Garbo's family has been in the lobster business for 40 years, and she gets fresh Maine lobster shipped in every day. Besides lobster rolls, she offers specials such as a lobster BLT or lobster macaroni and cheese, and she has been experimenting with menu items that include crab or clams.

"Clams are more versatile than I thought," she said.

Garbo decided against opening her food truck in South or Central Austin because the market is too saturated, she said. Instead, she roams the Arboretum area, moving her food truck from office park to office park for lunch service.

"The response has been overwhelming," she said. "I didn't know how many people from New England are here."

Garbo's Lobster Truck is open Tuesday through Friday 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. at various locations. She also does catering for events.
