Expansion nearly complete; indoor pool scheduled to open Feb. 1

A $4 million YMCA Twin Lakes branch expansion project is nearing completion.

The majority of the project was unveiled to the public Jan. 12 as part of a grand reopening ceremony. The renovations include a new, large fitness studio, a new expanded teen center and a cardio theater.

YMCA is also adding an indoor pool, which is slated to open Feb. 1. The indoor pool area will also include a warm-water therapy pool through a partnership with St. David's HealthCare.

The pool has been on the wish list of Jeff Andresen, CEO of the Williamson County YMCA, since the Twin Lakes branch office first opened more than seven years ago. Once the existing outdoor pool opens Memorial Day weekend, YMCA patrons will be able to access both pools through an open layout. There will also be a concession bar accessible in the new teen center.

The new fitness studio features more space and advanced lighting to make the aerobics more festive, and the new cardio theater, which is free for YMCA members, features multiple low-impact exercise machines for patrons to use while they watch a film.

Efforts also continue to host overnight guests at the Twin Lakes campsite. The first phase of a 10-cabin expansion should be complete this summer.
