The owners of this Buda bakery say they plan to refine their recipe for success in 2013. Walk-in business has not been as popular as expected, but orders for custom cakes keep rolling in, said Amanda Rickman, who owns Wild Flour Cakery & Boutique with her sister Lindsey Finlay and her mother-in-law, Lee Rickman.

"We're thinking about putting more focus on custom orders, mostly for wedding cakes, because it's been how we're staying afloat," she said. "We're getting connected with lots of venues and wedding planners in the area."

Buda's many festivals have also brought exposure to Wild Flour, Amanda added. The bakery could also expand its boutique offerings, possibly adding consignment items, so people will have a reason to stop in "even if they're not hungry," she said.

"I think we've done relatively well for our first year," Amanda said. "We're kind of holding our own."
