More details were announced this week for Springwoods Village, the 1,800-acre mixed-used development under construction just south of the ExxonMobil campus west of I-45 in Spring.
CDC Houston and representatives from three home and apartment builders gathered for a media tour of the development Nov. 28, which included early glimpses of the 385-acre ExxonMobil campus under construction on the Springwoods Village site.
Keith Simon, executive vice president of CDC Houston and director of development for Springwoods Village, called the project " a true live, work and play environment."
Infrastructure work is already well underway at Springwoods Village, with major roadways, intersections, groundwork and drainage complete. Simon said he expects the development's first residents to be living in Springwoods Village by next fall or early winter.
The first three homebuilders for Springwoods Village were announced in June, with Taylor Morrison building large, single-family luxury homes, Sullivan Brothers developing a "new-urbanist, mixed-lot residential community," and Martin Fein Interests building the development's first multi-family facility, The Belvedere.
Simon said Springwoods Village developers are also nearing an agreement with a hotel brand, which he said would be announced early next year.
A major component of the development includes a strong base of corporate employers. The plan got off to a significant kick start last month when Southwest Energy announced it would open a 10-story office on a 25-acre site in Springwoods Village. Simon said announcements of more corporate offices will come next year.
" They will be good names," he said.
The master-planned community is being developed with a balance of economic, environmental, social, housing and transportation elements. Simon said Springwoods Village will be developed over the next 15 years, at which point the community will support up to 50,000 workers and residents.
