Early voting results show incumbent Republican candidate Valerie Covey leading Libertarian candidate James Andrews in the race for Williamson County Precinct 3 commissioner.
Covey had 81.29 percent of the vote, while Andrews had 18.71 percent.
Covey was first appointed to office in 2006 to fill an unexpired term and was re-elected in 2008. She said her background as a certified public accountant is an asset to the Commissioners Court.
"I believe those skills are in line with what we need because the Commissioners Court is the executive body of the county, and we make all the decisions on the budget, the tax rate, as well as other financial decisions," Covey said during the primary election. "I believe it's important, not just the knowledge, but a conservative set of principals that I live by and help me in all my decisions."
