During its Oct. 9 meeting, the Travis County Commissioners Court approved $100,000 in county funds toward the creation of a regional Community Wildfire Protection Plan.
The county will partner with the City of Austin to hire a consultant to update parcel data, conduct a countywide risk assessment and identify best practices for mitigating wildfires in Central Texas ecosystems, according to background documents.
The plan is estimated to cost $150,000 to $200,000. The City of Austin also approved $100,000 for the project.
