The Brass Tap, a Florida-based beer and wine bar, is set to open its first Texas location in Round Rock in 2013.
On Oct. 12, Brass Tap announced it had selected Round Rock as its first Texas site. The new venue planned at 204 E Main St. will feature live music, wines, cigars, high-definition television with sports programming and more than 300 premium craft beers hand-selected by Brass Tap executives.
"Our concept is based around providing a best-in-class selection of craft beers," said James Walker, Brass Tap chief development officer. "We augment those with wine."
Walker said Round Rock was an alluring site for a new location because of large employers such as Dell Inc. and the region's well-known love of live music, which Brass Tap regularly features at its existing sites.
"We think it's a great market," Walker said. "It's a growing market and has very solid employers. We think this is going to be a big hit."
Walker said Brass Tap's Round Rock opening is part of a larger expansion drive. He said the company will open two additional Florida-based venues by January 2013, and plans are under way to open 19 more in undisclosed regions.
According to a statement from the venue, the new location will require 2,000 to 3,000 square feet and will create 10-20 new jobs. Walker said the Round Rock location could open as early as February.
Founded by Jeff Martin in 2007, Tampa, Fla.-based The Brass Tap is an upscale craft beer and wine bar celebrated for its more than 300 varieties of imports, local craft beers and a large selection of premium wines and cigars. In June 2012, Beef 'O' Brady's, a national franchise of family sports pubs and restaurants, acquired the rights to franchise The Brass Tap.
