The Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center voted in its new officers Sept. 26 to lead its 17-member board of directors for the next year.
Georgetown resident Cathy Reiley was selected and accepted the presidential role, while 10-year board member Chris Stanley will serve as vice president. Connie Bradley will serve her fourth year as treasurer. They assumed their roles Oct. 1.
The board members serve as volunteers and are often instrumental in helping the advocacy center thrive, Executive Director Brenda Staples said.
"They keep the agency focused on the mission and help keep us in line with that mission," Staples said. "They create and carry out a strategic plan that allows us to remain focused."
WCCAC is based in a 7,500-square-foot Victorian-style house in Georgetown. The structure was built in 2007 to provide a safe, welcoming place for children reporting sexual or physical abuse. In addition, the organization hosts 600–650 forensic interviews per year and provides counseling, forensic medical exams and coordinates the child protection team made up of other agencies.
All board members serve three-year terms for the county nonprofit group. Cedar Park has contributed $30,000 toward the advocacy center in each of the past three years, while Leander has allocated $25,000 per year in that same time span.
