A full-service Texaco gas station is set to open at the intersection of Lakeway Boulevard and Lohmans Crossing Road.
The station will be in the former Exxon building at 2200 Lakeway Blvd.
Ross Newberry, who will open the Texaco, said the plan is to reopen the existing facility and add an automated car wash. The Texaco will have full service on demand, a service station and do general repairs, Newberry said.
"We are here to help the community," he said.
Lakeway City Council applauded Newberry's plan at a Sept. 17 meeting, saying the gas station is needed in the community.
"You are bringing something back that everybody wants," Councilwoman Dee Ann Burns-Farrell said.
Newberry, who helps run Tarrytown Texaco, 2400 Exposition Blvd., said the station could be open in two months. The Exxon facility closed down about three years ago, he said.
