Southwest Austin residents have until Sept. 11 to cast their vote for a name for the potential project to redesign the Y at Oak Hill.
A new Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority poll, posted at www.mobilityauthority.com/projects/oak-hill-project.php, lists the six names suggested by community members during a workshop held Aug. 29, according to CTRMA Director of Communications Steve Pustelnyk.
About 40 Oak Hill residents attended the meeting to share name ideas that reflect Oak Hill, said Melissa Hurst, CTRMA senior communications and marketing specialist. The winning name will be chosen by popular vote from these options:
- Oak Hill Parkway
- Oak Hill Way
- Oak Hill Gateway
- Convict Hill Parkway
- Oak Hill Connection
- Gateway Oak Hill
Once a winner is declared, CTRMA plans to develop a brand and logo. Then in mid-October, CTRMA will release its study of the project's potential environmental impact, followed by an open house in November, Pustelnyk said.
"In November, we'll begin to start the process of understanding what the needs in the community are in terms of mobility and see how those need to be addressed."
