Forget turtlenecks and stuffy art studios—new businesses in West Lake Hills and Lakeway are looking to make painting classes fun and social.

GeeBerry Art Studio and Painting with a Twist Lakeway both opened during the summer and offer group art lessons that emphasize having a good time. Both studios let people bring in drinks, including alcohol, and cater to all skill levels.

"It's a casual way to learn to paint," GeeBerry owner Jenny Granberry said. "It's also a unique activity to enjoy with your friends and family."

GeeBerry Art Studio

GeeBerry Art Studio, 3636 Bee Caves Road, Ste. 215, opened Aug 10. The studio is run by Granberry, an Austin-based painter, and holds children's classes, adult classes, and private parties.

Granberry said students range from beginners who are interested in learning a few new techniques to advanced artists who want to paint with their friends.

"It's extremely accessible for everyone," she said.

Classes run between two and three hours and cost $40, which includes the art supplies.

The studio also has classes for children and adults and hosts private parties.
