The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce will begin another search for a new president after Jenna Armstrong declined the position due to a family illness.
Armstrong was set to begin her job at the chamber Aug. 14 after being chosen in mid-July, interim chamber President Wayne Witzsche said. This week, staff was notified she would not assume her role at the chamber.
"She has had some personal issues that she has to take care of, and she felt like she could not make the move," he said. Armstrong previously served as chief operations manager for the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce.
Witzsche said the chamber's board of directors will discuss the organization's plan to find a replacement at their Aug. 15 meeting.
"I'm going to stay here until they find somebody," Witzsche said. "If we do a brand new search, it could take about three months. That includes allowing time for them to notify their current employer."
The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce announced Armstrong's hiring July 11 following the resignation of Harold Dean.
