Residents of Bridgeland have banded together to form the Farmer's Market Committee to bring an array of fresh produce from local vendors and farms to the master-planned community. The Bridgeland Farmer's Market will return Aug. 12, featuring seasonal vegetables and fruit, herbs, preserves, baked goods and eggs and meat from pasture-fed animals.
Last spring, the event brought together 23 vendors and hundreds of local patrons. Because of the large turnout, the farmer's market is back by popular demand, said Elizabeth Dominguez, Bridgeland's on-site activities director.
"When we hosted the first farmer's market, we thought we might offer the event a few times a year if we had a good response," Dominguez said. "However, the response was so enthusiastic we decided we could host it monthly."
The market will take place from 12:30–3:30 p.m. on the second Sunday of every month through the end of the year at 16902 Bridgeland Landing near the Lakeland Activity Center. Special events will be planned for each month. The upcoming August market will feature live music from Kariana Ellingsen and Carrie Maple.
The market—organized by the Bridgeland Homeowners Association and local volunteers—is sponsored by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate and David Weekly Homes.
"Our office supports any community activity that is unique and worthwhile. It was a huge success the first month, and it is becoming a staple for the area," said Rich Guderyon, real estate manager for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. "It's our philosophy to give back to the community in any way we can."
