With all precincts reporting for the primary runoff Tom Maynard held off Rebecca Osborne in a back-and-forth race for State Board of Education District 10. Maynard received 50.62 percent of the voting while Osborne received 49.37 percent.

In the primary election held May 29, Maynard, who serves as the executive director of the Texas FFA Association, received 42.87 percent of the vote while Osborne, who is a teacher in Round Rock ISD, garnered 41.87 percent of the vote.

In the primary Osborne and Maynard ran against Jeff Fleece, who received 15.25 percent of the vote.
