Just two days after city and school board elections, early voting began May 14 for the primary party elections.
Joyce Cowan, Hays County elections administrator, said that the delay caused by redistricting in setting precinct boundaries is what pushed the two elections closer together than usual.
Early voting for the primaries runs through May 25. Election day is May 29.
As with all early voting periods, voters may cast their ballots at any polling location in the county. On election day, however, voters will only be allowed to vote at their specific precinct polling location.
Cowan urged voters to check their yellow voter registration cards or go online to verify their precincts and polling places.
"The change in precinct lines means that you could be voting for a different slate of candidates than you expected to before redistricting, and your polling place might have changed as well," she said in a statement.
Early voters may cast their ballots at the Hays County Government Center, 712 S. Stagecoach Trail, on the north side of Wonder World Drive in San Marcos.
Voters who have lost or misplaced their voter registration cards may use an alternate form of identification such as a driver's license, U.S. citizenship papers or passport, a birth certificate, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or a government document that shows the voter's name and address.
