Westlake High School Principal Linda Rawlings has announced that she is retiring.
In an email sent May 14 to WHS families, Rawlings said she was retiring to spend more time with her family and to pursue other interests. Rawlings had been the WHS principal for six years and has spent 34 years working at schools.
"I have so enjoyed my time in this community and will always consider these years as the pinnacle of my educational career," she wrote in the email.
Eanes ISD Superintendent Dr. Nola Wellman has started looking for Rawlings' replacement, according to Rawlings' email. On May 16, Lester Wolff, the assistant superintendent for human resources, will be talking to parents about the principal transition.
The Parents Coffee event is taking place at 9:30 a.m. in the principal's conference room at WHS, 4100 Westbank Drive. If more than 20 people show up to the meeting, it will be held at the Black Box in the school's Ninth Grade Center.
At the meeting, parents can share their thoughts on what qualities they would like to see in the next principal.
