The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce is seeking new leadership after it learned April 30 that Harold Dean, longtime president and CEO, accepted the same position in Kerrville.
"It's been incredible to serve in this position in a community with such phenomenal growth," Dean said in a news release. "This community is full of talented and dedicated individuals and it's been an honor to work with so many of them."
Dean had served as chamber president since 1999. Throughout his 13-year tenure, he helped develop the Cedar Park Medical Center and the Cedar Park Center and attract businesses such as ETS Lindgren, BMC Millwork and 3PS Inc.
"I attribute much of the growth of Cedar Park to Harold's efforts," said Linda Haywood, chamber board member and campus manager at Austin Community College. "He will be missed."
The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce has grown from 120 members to more than 700 throughout Dean's stint as president. In addition, in 2011, The Cedar Park Community Foundation presented Dean with a lifetime achievement award. He also helped develop the Leadership Cedar Park program and its junior counterpart.
He will begin his role as Kerrville Chamber of Commerce president and CEO on May 15.
A search committee, chaired by Haywood, will immediately begin the replacement process. There is no clear timeline yet for when a new president and CEO will be selected or when an interim candidate will be named.
