The cities of Oak Ridge North and Shenandoah have canceled their May 12 city council elections after all of the races for both municipalities were uncontested.

The City of Shenandoah will have a new mayor after Garry Watts elected not to seek another term. Watts was elected to serve on the city council in 2006 and was appointed to the mayoral position to fill an unexpired term in 2008. Watts has served as mayor since then.

He is being replaced by Wes Stephens. Position 1 incumbent Gary Henson and Position 5 incumbent Jason Frazer are also returning to the council. Each of the positions, including mayor, carry two year terms. Stephens, Henson and Frazer will be sworn in at the May 23 city council meeting.

In Oak Ridge North, mayor Jim Kuykendall, Position 1 council member Tom Coale and Position 3 council member Al Stahl will serve two more years after they were also unopposed in this year's election. They will be sworn in for their new terms at the May 14 city council meeting.
