Each of the four races for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors election this May will be contested. With filing having closed on March 5, 13 candidates have applied for the four positions up for election.

This year, Positions 1, 2, 3 and 4 are up for election. Two directors who currently serve on the board, Tom Campbell for Position 2 and Lloyd Matthews for Position 3, are not seeking re-election this year.

Claude Hunter is seeking re-election to his Position 1 seat. He is being contested by Henrietta Riddiford, Andrea Smith and Richard "Gordy" Bunch.

In the race for Position 2 are Mike Bass and Ted Stanley.

Position 3 is the most contested race of the four this year with five candidates looking to replace Matthews. They are Jay Mac Sanders, Margarita Chavez, Roland Borey, Jeff Long and Tim Nutt.

Dr. Ed Robb is looking to retain his Position 4 seat in this year's election. He is being contested by John R. Risher.

Each position carries a two-year term. Next year, Positions 5, 6 and 7 will be up for election.

Registered voters living in The Woodlands Township in both Montgomery County and Harris County are eligible to vote in this year's election. Early voting will be held April 30 through May 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and May 7–8 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Election Day is May 12, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
