Pflugerville-based nonprofit Celebration of Love hosted a VIP luncheon Feb. 23 to thank sponsors and other supporters. The group is also celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

The luncheon featured guest speaker, retired state Sen. Gonzalo Barrientos, and presentations from COL President Tom Ramsey.

Among the organizations honored at the lunch were Kohls, Toys for Tots, Sam's Club and BiG Austin, all of which participated in COL activates throughout the year.

Throughout 2011, Celebration of Love helped more than 70,000 individuals in Central Texas and at Fort Hood by providing food and resources to families in need.

The nonprofit gave food and toys to families in Central Texas and at Fort Hood, assisted victims of the Bastrop fires and traveled to Joplin, Mo., to help in relief efforts in the aftermath of the May 22 tornado that killed 158 people.

The organization also runs the Reaching Out Center, a food and resource center located in Pflugerville at 15630 Vision Drive, which was opened in 2006 to assist low-income families in Central Texas through food, resources clothing and job training.
