When the groomer she was working for was bought out, Judy Elmendorf decided to strike out on her own. She brought her 15 years of experience to Leander and opened Judy's Grooming at 2405 S. US 183.

Elmendorf signed the lease for her shop in January 2011, and she opened officially in March. She brought over many of her clients from her previous job, and she said business has been great. In 2012, she hopes to finish the cosmetic fixes left over after she moved in to her building so quickly. Elmendorf also plans to launch a new website.

"I'm so excited about the new website," she said. "I can't wait for it to be finished."
