John Thomas took an aptitude test about six years ago, and his score on that test started him down the path that led to where he is now the proud owner of three Fantastic Sam's salons. Thomas' salon in Leander, located at 651 N. US 183, Ste. 325, near H-E-B Plus, is about to celebrate its fifth year of operation.

The aforementioned aptitude test was to determine the test-takers' abilities as a business owner. Thomas scored high, and he was given a list of franchises he could run with his wife, Nedra.

"(Fantastic Sam's) was the last one on that list I expected to pick, but the more we looked at it, the more sense it made," Thomas said.

He has wanted to expand in Williamson County for awhile and is working on a location near Cedar Park.
