The City of Cedar Park invites residents to drop off live Christmas trees at City Hall for recycling Jan. 7 from 9 a.m.–noon.
City employees will feed trees trough a wood chipper to create mulch to be used for landscaping in parks and other city property. In exchange for the trees, the City of Cedar Park will offer participants tree saplings while they last.
"The Christmas Tree Recycling Program continues to be very successful, year after year," Parks and Recreation Director Curt Randa said. "I am proud to see this level of environmental awareness from our Cedar Park citizens."
All trees must be stripped of lights, tinsel, ornaments and other decorations. Artificial trees are not permitted.
Boy Scout Troop 233 can transport a Christmas tree to City Hall for a $10 fee. Visit www.troop233leander.org for details, scheduling and registration information.
