New Braunfels and Comal ISDs announced that after assessing weather conditions, schools and offices would operate at normal hours Jan. 21.

In a statement Jan. 20, NBISD officials said they determined that all NBISD campuses will open at normal start times, and buses will run on time.

If something changes overnight, the district will notify students, staff and parents via their school messenger automated phone system by 5:15 a.m.

CISD Superintendent Andrew Kim informed parents, students and staff in an email Jan. 20 that while weather patterns can change, schools are expected to operate at regular hours.

"If we see that conditions deteriorate to where our roads are not safe to travel on, we will communicate with you either later tonight or first thing in the morning any possible delays or cancellations," Kim said.

While both districts remained open Jan. 20, some surrounding districts closed but plan on also opening at normal school hours Jan. 21.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 26 degrees Fahrenheit by 8 a.m. before thawing with a 20% chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts of up to 20 mph are expected.
