New Braunfels Utilities began work on its $425,000 East South Street and South Central Avenue water line realignment project on June 20. Installation of the waterlines was originally scheduled for completion in mid-August but has been extended to Friday, Sept. 2.

“Repairs to the aging infrastructure required additional work and materials to complete the project,” NBU officials said in a press release.

Roadways will remain closed to thru traffic during construction, but vehicular access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Minor detours may be required for short periods of time during water line and customer service line tie-ins, according to NBU officials.

When completed, the project will improve the area’s aging water infrastructure in connection with the city of New Braunfels completing its citywide roadway project.
