The Texas Department of Transportation announced the most recent update to the Loop 337 project on Dec. 18.

Road crews are expected to open another portion of southbound lanes from the Hwy. 46 overpass to Oak Run Parkway by Dec. 21, according to Hernan Rozemberg, TxDOT's public information officer for the San Antonio district.

The change will affect drivers traveling from eastbound Oak Run Parkway onto northbound Loop 337, according to a TxDOT news release. Drivers will instead turn right onto southbound Loop 337 and use a turnaround at Stone Crossing.

TxDOT will proceed with reconstruction of existing Loop 337 in areas where southbound traffic has access to new lanes, the release said. Drivers will have access to one northbound lane, and road signs will be placed to direct traffic through the new configuration.

“We’d like to remind the traveling public to please pay attention to and follow construction signage, remain aware and use caution when traveling through the work zone,” the release said. “Please do keep in mind that moving over and/or slowing down when approaching work crews is state law.”

The Loop 337 construction project began in November 2017 and is targeted for completion in late 2021. The project will overhaul approximately 6 miles of roadway from I-35 to Hillcrest Drive, including an upgraded four-lane divided highway, new bridges and pedestrian accommodations.
