According to a city of New Braunfels news release, I-35 traffic will be redirected to Water Lane in order to give construction crews access to Morningside. Residents who need to access I-35 from Morningside can use the far east end of Morningside or take a detour using Solms and Water Lane.
Construction work is necessary in the area in order to install a water line and a drainage crossing on Rueckle. The work was approved as part of the city of New Braunfels 2013 bond program.
Expected to be completed in 2020, the Solms-Rueckle-Morningside project will widen each road to a minimum of two lanes, install shared-use paths and make necessary utility and drainage improvements for a total cost of $15.4 million.
