After a monthslong search for a new president, the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce has announced a replacement for outgoing president and CEO Michael Meek.

The chamber search committee received 179 applications and presented the final three candidates to the chamber’s executive committee May 11. Jonathan Packer was then approved by the chamber’s board of directors on June 3.

Packer has served as the senior vice president of customer experience with the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce since October of 2018 and has been with the Austin chamber since 2015.

Previously, Packer worked as the director of the Upshur County Economic Development Corp. from 2006-08 and worked for the Killeen Chamber of Commerce from 2008-15.

Packer will begin work in New Braunfels on July 15 as Meek concludes his more than 30 years of service. Meek previously announced his retirement in January but has continued to serve as a consultant while the organization searched for new leadership.
