The upcoming school year is approaching, and Comal County Public Health Department officials said they are prepared to administer back-to-school vaccines to students over the next two weeks.

“We encourage those who need vaccines to call and make an appointment,” Public Health Director Cheryl Fraser said. “Our staff is experienced, trained and prepared to help our community stay up to date on recommended vaccines.”

Comal County Public Health Department officials said it is important to vaccinate children to protect them against serious diseases, including meningitis, measles and whooping cough. Certain vaccines are required to attend school and participate in activities in the state of Texas.

To schedule an appointment, parents can call the public health department at 830-221-1159. More information about vaccines and the diseases they prevent can be found at https://dshs.texas.gov/immunize/school/default.shtm.
