The Comal County Clerk’s Office has earned an Exemplary Five-Star Rating from the state for its work in vital statistics.

Vital statistics include birth and death certificates, marriage applications, and divorce records in the state of Texas, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Five-Star Service Award acknowledges Vital Statistic Partners who understand the importance of the information and its impact on the citizens of Texas.

This award honors partners who go above and beyond the duties of birth and death registration by attending training and keeping up with the latest legislation and trends, according to Comal County officials.

“My office understands the importance of registering birth and death records here in Comal County,” County Clerk Bobbie Koepp said. “They work very hard to meet the criteria that the state requires. I am so proud of them for achieving this award. This award is the highest you can receive here in the state of Texas. Each of them deserves the recognition, and I’m so thankful to our team for always going above and beyond for our community.”

To receive the exemplary award, agencies must meet all state criteria, including attending training throughout the year, registering 100% of their birth and death records within one business day, and upholding outstanding security measures in place for the Remote Access Birth System, according to Comal County officials.
