New Braunfels City Council will hold a special meeting May 16 to canvass the May 7 election results and potentially call for a runoff election for June 18 for the council’s District 1 spot.

If held June 18, election day voting would take place at the Westside Community Center, 2932 S. I-35, New Braunfels, and early voting would take place June 6-14 at the Comal County Elections Center, 396 N. Seguin Ave., according to David Ferguson, media and communications coordinator for New Braunfels.

The runoff date and locations are not official until approved by the council May 16.

Candidates Suzie Lynn and Andrés Campos-Delgado garnered 42% and 44% of the vote, respectively. Because no candidate received 50% of the vote, a runoff election is required.
