During an April 11 city council meeting, the New Braunfels City Council unanimously approved a request to add more than 140 acres to the existing Lone Oak Farm Municipal Utility District.

The property that was added to the MUD is located in Guadalupe County in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. The land is positioned on the north side of FM 758, approximately 500 feet west of the intersection of Hwy. 123, according to city documents.

A MUD is a political subdivision that provides developers with alternate ways to finance infrastructure. It is managed by a board of directors and utilizes tax and fee revenue from properties located inside the MUD to repay debt associated with infrastructure-related development costs.

The Lone Oak Farm MUD was first approved in 2019 and will consist of a total of 481.08 acres once the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality approves the addition of the acreage.

Water service to the MUD is provided by Crystal Clear Special Utility District, and sewer service is provided by Seguin Utilities.
