Frigid temperatures and significant snowfall that impacted most of the state last week strained local utility capacities and damaged residential and commercial water systems.

In an effort to minimize the financial impact of repairs residents will be undertaking as a result of the storm, the city of New Braunfels has announced plans to waive fees for permits associated with the weather event.

Residents applying for plumbing permits or permits for work associated with water or weather damage are asked to identify the project as “Severe Weather-Related Repair” on applications to have fees waived.

Additionally, the city will prioritize and expedite the review of plumbing permits, inspections and plumbing contractor registrations for storm repairs.

For additional information about the fee waivers and permitting, contact the New Braunfels Planning and Development Services Department at 830-221-4050, or visit the department’s website.
