With colder temperatures comes Wassail, a hot mulled-cider beverage common in medieval drinking rituals.

Held on the first Thursday of December, the city of New Braunfels’ annual Wassailfest features local businesses and nonprofits as wassail stops that offer visitors samples of unique wassail recipes.

The historic Prince Solms Inn basement bar, Sidecar, announced it will participate as a wassail stop this year Dec. 5 from 6-9 p.m. Located at 295 E. San Antonio St., Ste. 201, New Braunfels, the speakeasy bar will make homemade, nonalcoholic wassail to share with festival attendees.

For those unable to attend, mixologist and bar manager Andy Hack has shared his wassail recipe that can be made and enjoyed at home.
