New Braunfels residents can get started on their post-Christmas clean up early this year.

The city of New Braunfels Solid Waste and Recycling Division will host a Christmas tree drop-off and mulch pick-up at the city recycling center, 488 S. Castell, Ave., beginning Dec. 26, according to a city news release.

Residents can bring natural Christmas trees that will be made into mulch to the recycling center through Jan. 11. Trees will be accepted during normal operating hours Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon and 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m., according to the release.

Residents are asked to remove all decorations from their trees. Artificial trees, trees with fake snow or decorations—such as lights, tinsel, garland and ornaments—will not be accepted, according to the release.

Christmas trees are also eligible for residential curbside pick-up on green waste collection days year-round, as long as they are free of decorations, and trees taller than eight feet must be cut in half.

Tree mulch will be available for pick-up by city residents Jan. 3-11 at the recycling center, according to the release. Mulch will need to be self-loaded, and residents will need to supply their own shovels and containers, according to the release.

The New Braunfels city recycling center regularly accepts single-stream recycling, plastic foam No.. 6, flattened cardboard and scrap metal. Additional information on the city recycling center is available at www.nbtexas.org/recyclecenter.
