Following election night results, Alan Schoolcraft and John Kuempel will go head to head in a runoff election scheduled for May 28.

Schoolcraft received 48.13% of votes while Kuempel received 45.02% of votes.

The winner of the runoff election will go against Eric Norman in November.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Early voting results show Alan Schoolcraft leading the Republican primary election for the Texas House of Representatives District 44 position with 6,157 votes, or 47.83%.

What you need to know

In the election, Schoolcraft ran against three other candidates, including incumbent John Kuempel, who received 45.50% of early votes. Greg Switzer received 4.38% of early votes and David Freimarck received 2.29%.


Eric Norman was the only Democratic candidate for the position, meaning he will move on to the November ballot to run against the winner from the Republican primary.
