Three candidates are seeking the Republican nomination to replace Shane Rapp, the outgoing Comal County constable for Precinct 4.

Alice "Ali" Flores, David de la Fuente and Chris Garcia are all on the ballot.

Precinct 4 covers a portion of New Braunfels around the Gruene Historic District, and it stretches north and northwest bordering Hays, Blanco and Kerr counties.

Candidates were asked to keep responses under 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents. Answers may have been edited or cut to adhere to those guidelines, or for style and clarity.

Community Impact is only asking candidates in contested Republican or Democratic primaries to answer questionnaires.

Alice (Ali) Flores

Experience: 12-plus years law enforcement experience, including 7-plus years full-time deputy constable, Constable Leadership College

Occupation: Deputy constable

What is the most important issue facing residents, and how would you address it if elected?

As a current deputy constable, I am often asked, “What is a constable?” This is a valid question because not a lot of people know the answer. If elected, I would educate our youth and residents how a constable and their deputies serve and protect our communities.

If elected, how do you plan to represent all your constituency as a whole?

I plan to represent all constituencies by leading the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office with a high level of professionalism, honesty and integrity.

What issues outside of the most important one named above are a high priority for you to address?

Ensuring road safety is crucial, which is why traffic enforcement will always be a top priority. By proactively safeguarding life and property, we can potentially prevent serious incidents on the roadway.

What is the overall takeaway you want voters to understand about your campaign?

I am determined to serve my community to the best of my ability through my life and professional experiences. I have a strong desire to assist people in need of guidance, and I believe that this opportunity is what God has intended for me to do in Comal County.
